It has been quite
a while since I posted- had some things doing- during my “away time”, I
stumbled upon a book by James Patterson titled ‘JACK AND
JILL’-it is more of a classic published in 1996- set majorly in a black
American community and Washington D.C . It is what I can actually call a good
read (least I forget it is a part of the Alex Cross series in case you have
seen something about that before) with a plot that I found fascinating to follow.
This book majorly involves investigation of murder and homicide cases by the
main character- Alex Cross- and his longtime friend -Detective Sampson a.k.a
Man Mountain- alongside some other detectives. In this book, there were two
major killers, one who killed young children in Alex’s neighbourhood and
another (a duo) that killed various important personalities leaving short poems
for the investigators to feed their minds on. Skilled investigators began to
reason that the main target was the fictitious president of the United States-
Thomas Byrnes- after thinking of what reasons the killers would have for names
the same as the code names of the president and first lady i.e. Jack and Jill.
On the other end the killer of the young children can be said to be a deranged
attention seeking fellow who thought he was equally as important as Jack and
Jill who seemed to be the rave of the moment (the deranged killer was actually
a child- thirteen years of age- and a master of disguises being that nobody
could place him in an age group despite seeing him at one of the crime scenes). Oops, think I have said too much, in a total package, it’s a thrilling, suspense filled and nicely plotted novel
that keeps you turning the pages in anticipation. I would advise you read it if
you can get it. Thanks for reading.
REVIEW : VIOLENCE BY FESTUS IYAYI
Hello peeps, how has the month been? I’ve been playing coward for a while now, let me tell you why. I read a book some weeks back—which I stumbled upon by the way—and I was like it’s something I’d like to make a blog post about but I have been “shifting post” ever since. I have decided to take the bull by the horns and do it anyways. Hmm!! Where do I start? Okay, this book I’m talking about is titled VIOLENCE written by FESTUS IYAYI and I’d say it was a good—real good—read. The time in which the story was set wasn’t really stated but I figure it was set sometime in the 70s going but the copyright and an account somewhere in the book. The storyline spans roughly 2-3 weeks, my guess being right. The plot revolves basically around two couples, one affluent and the other poverty stricken. The story tells of the things that being poor can make one do and things that the affluent can use to lure the poor as well. It also shows how manipulati...
