THOUGHTS FOR THE NEW YEAR

Image
Allow me let you in on a little secret. Most of the time I get ready to write a piece, I usually have the idea right before I start. On some great days, I get the idea hours before I put he piece together. And yet, at other times, I just start with a potential idea and will it to make sense. On special (odd) days; ideas linger in my head for days and maybe weeks before I truly can find the words to express them to the fullest. This piece you are about to read was born of these enduring, unshaken ideas. I remember writing about my word for 2020 really early last year ; how it would pay to move with all form of intention in the course of the year. The idea of being intentional was just it for me. Just like this article, the opening post for 2020 was born of an enduring idea. It felt as if the word was playing in a loop in my head; going on for days. Here I am again (in November), not consciously thinking about but having thoughts of 2021 popping in my head ever so often. I am sure many d...

2020: TIPS ON BEING INTENTIONAL

Image
As promised in my previous post , I’m back and we are still talking being intentional. Being intentional takes a lot of intent and commitment in the long run. Honestly, being intentional is not enough without being consistent regarding your intentions. Living intentionally may not be the easiest thing to do but it's worth giving a shot.   The year is still going and you probably are wondering: "How the heck do I jumpstart this being intentional thing?" Well, you aren't alone and I have curated some tips that I believe would aid our intentional living this year. Have the big picture in view: where do you want to be by the end of 2020? how much progress and growth do you expect to have experienced? Create a big picture stemming from your answers to these questions and let them inform your goals. For a wholesome big picture, answer the above questions concerning your life in the following categories: Spiritual Physical (health and fitness etc) Emotional...

BE INTENTIONAL

Image
Whoop whoop!!! 2020 is finally here and I believe we all have hopes that it was worth the hype and wait. Funny how a couple years back, quite a number of us were little children beholding visions of 2020 as far away in the future but alas! How time flies. Congratulations are in order, you made it to 2020, a turn of a new decade (or is it?).  As has become a custom here, I bring to you a thoughtful post to start the new year. December is turning out to be my most solemn month of each year where I find myself doing quite a bit of retro and introspection (I guess these thoughts are catalyzed by the quiet that comes with the month). Just before 2019 came to a wrap, the sole word that always accompanied my thoughts of 2020 was: INTENTIONAL and I think it is something y’all should be in on. I have come to realize that as pretty young children, the only thing that ever made the new year seem like a big deal for the fact that about that same time next year, there would have been a c...

GRATITUDE NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE

Image
I find it worth mentioning that this is the tail end of the year. I’m certain we all have had some events worth remembering in the previous months. The days between christmas and new year’s celebrations are sure weird days, while some are on road trips, concert and party hopping, some unconsciously use these days for all manner of evaluation—from business to daily living.  That being said, the highlight of today’s post is to jog both our memories regarding the highlights of the year for us as individuals. Often time, we find it easier to recognize the hundred-and-one things that didn’t go our ways in the course of the year. In the same light, we find it rather convenient to forget times when things went awfully right in ways we couldn’t have possibly fathomed. Usually, focusing on all that has gone wrong or that which is still yet to be deprives one of the joy from the seemingly little victories and blessings. It leaves us without much gratitude.   Now, cast your m...

THOUGHTS FOR 2K19

Image
As we started 2k18, we’d by His grace start 2k19 and finish it up too with pleasant memories and experiences tagging along with us up until the end. Can I hear an AMEN! So, I have noticed that by some unconscious effort, my posts towards the end and beginning of the year seem to take on a sober kinda form and that, I don’t quite have an explanation for. Anyway, today’s post is going to be taking on that form too *shrugs*.    It’s often said; Life is a journey, life is a race. Those are definitely true, we all have places that we are destined to be (destinations), and stops we must make to refuel and mark that we must pass. One thing one should know however is, you may be running on a certain track with 2 million or thousand or hundreds of thousand (you get the drill) other people but, that doesn’t mean y’all are headed the same way or y’all are even running on the right tracks. Another thing, regardless the fact that it is a race, the individualistic...

18 things to help make the most of '18

Image
I believe I have said this already but there’s no harm saying it again: HAPPY NEW YEAR PEEPS!!! Looking to having a splendid year here and in reality, hoping you do too.    I initially was shying away from making a “new year's post” . Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to but it just wasn’t flowing. I feel like many a time, New Year posts and its likes make life look like it’s “ one-size-fits-all ”. Definitely, there are habits that should and should not be cultivated by all, but still, one road doesn’t lead to the market. Well, after a series of happenings, I finally got what I wanted to have as my New Year’s post for you all. It’s a new year and I’m presently not in the mood for a lengthy post so, I’d just drop a list *winks*. 18 things/tips to help make the most of 2018 (My thoughts). 1. Don’t trust your happiness in the hands of any except God and yourself. 2. Please God with your actions, thoughts and speech. 3. A heart of gratitude in all situations. 4. A spiri...

Rounding up: 2017 was...

Image
2017 packed its bags some hours back (where I live at least) now, 2018 is what we've got on our plates. So, I decided to do something a bit different this time around, get others opinions. I got a couple of people to complete the question; This initially was meant to be a round-up post but I thought it could double as a New Year post. So, yeah, here's what they had to say. Massive thanks to those that thought to share their opinions. @big.bold.beautiful.nne says, A year that made me experience life through a new eye ... @am_lammie says, A year full of life lessons. @dupsyfresh says, A year that brought about a new me. @mimii_chi says, A year that showed  me the two sides of life. @mah_ree_yam says, 2017 was my most eventful and an amazing year. Mariam says, 2017 was a year I would never  get to see again. @theophilus.smith_ says, revolutionary. Learnt to keep the important things important, would say I became better. Made some real good de...
