REALITY LATELY: WHAT IS NEW?

Image
It has been well over a month since y’all saw me here. Trust me, I never forgot this space but, I found the need to take a step back. Over the past couple months, I have been caught in the to-be or not-to-be loop. Wondering; should I or should I not? Although I have spent a good part of the time away writing the best possible content, I have spent even more time thinking. Thinking, about what you might ask. . . Shutting down this space permanently. Yup, I have chewed on that thought for the time I was away these past months.  Stock Photo by  Olya Kobruseva  from  Pexels Why?  Late in the month of June, I began uploading content on Medium, based on recommendation. In case you don’t know, medium is essentially a community for writers—and readers of course. For the longest time, I have kept an eye out for possible ways to widen my reach. Getting my content before a larger (and more diverse) audience. Medium certainly fits the bill and it subtly eli...

TRUSTING THE PROCESS

Image
The world as we know it functions smoothly or otherwise as a result of processes. There is the process for water to leave the earth only to return as precipitation. There the process for fields to yield crops (even if this has recently seen modifications). There’s the process for a child to become an adult. There is the process for your heart to send blood round your body. Some of these processes differ in details depending on the end product of the process. And every process, intricate, complex or simple births a change. As time and seasons change, humans adapt. Daily activities that once consumed chunks of our time, now aided by technology are significantly faster and seamless to achieve. I align with the thoughts of this newly found ease and swiftness affecting our patience and endurance levels. Source At times,we grow impatient-- over little and big things alike-- forgetting that there is a process to things. Forgetting that humans just like crops, yield at differ...

2020: THE YEAR THAT SHOULD BE

Image
For the longest time, the year 2020 evoked a magical feeling in most, when thought of as some year in the future. Here we are now, living in that future and I’m certain many don’t deem is as a magical year (in the good light, at least).Truly, the year has been a lot, even as we are barely past the first half, with each month come along with its own dose of problems; like a series of books with different themes. Even as the seeming worst of the worst have transpired in the course of the past few months: from Kobe’s death, the pandemic and its effects, the injustices and civil protests, to the looming global recession and canceled sports leagues mid-season and major events slated for the year without foreknowledge of how sharp a turn 2020 was going to take. Regardless, the year has certainly been good to some.    In the beginning of the year, before our lifestyles were rudely altered, I’m sure most made plans and projections for the year. From use of vision ...

REALITY LATELY

Image
It is 2020 and so far, i have been managing to keep this space alive regardless all other things going on outside of this space. Coronavirus is still very much in the news and thankfully, we aren't dead (yet). However, i'd be bringing all going on out there into this space. Doing : my best to make the most of the semester and year. Been engaging myself in a daily writing exercise. Listening : to Passenger, Lauryn, Don Williams and my playlist on shuffle. I was tasked with sifting through a playlist a while back and I discovered that certain songs have underlying meanings if you listen carefully. Source Realizing : life is hella short. You have a bucket list, start ticking things off, eternity can come calling anytime. Source Michael Rosenberg is an incredible songwriter. In the face of bigger issues, the seemingly inconsequential ones fizzle out (what matters now is staying alive). Peace is beautiful and staying indoors quite literally doesn’t kill...

Of Beauty and Coincidences

Image
Sunday, 8th of March international women's day. I attend a pretty early service that leaves me returing when the sun is just about out. I find myself wandering through my gallery only to see this picture that I do not remember taking with any intent in my camera roll.   (As discovered, unedited)   Just clouds, you might say. When I was younger, I had this fascination with cloud forms which has now evolved into one with starry night skies (but that is a tale for another day). This may not be the most impressive cloud form I have laid eyes upon but, I find it settling to look at especially considering the "mysterious appearance" in my gallery. Now to the random thought, someone once said to me that the best things at times happen without a thought to it and here, I have a parallel. I know the constant reminder for this year is being INTENTIONAL but even when doing things with intent there's always that one thing that you are not consciously doing that goe...

WHAT IS YOURS!!

Image
I have the habit of saving random pictures I come across on the internet (pinterest and co) from memes, quotes to pictures from spongebob cos, who doesn't? The above picture is one I find myself taking some thought to whenever I scroll through my gallery. It feels more like a conflict of thoughts most times. On one hand, in an alternate time line, I could have subscribed to this school of thought but everytime I find this picture, I think otherwise. What's yours would find you. Sounds fair, doesn't it? But then, how would what is yours find you if you don't put yourself in the position to be found? Sure, at times things come looking for you but more often than not, we fail to realize that there are some little things that would have been done in the past to put us at that spot at the time "ours" decided to come find us. What's yours would find you but what's yours won't be glad seeing you lazing around when it comes. This is not to say I d...

REALITY LATELY

Image
Hey beautiful people ~dancing in like I never left~, its been more than a moment. As some of you might have guessed, school dragged me away from y’all. It sure does feel great to be back even if it is only momentary. Life this past three months has been a sort of roller coaster cum calm in the storm kinda thing and on most days, I’m a mess by Ed sheeran would typify how I felt there and then. Oh well, I think it appropriate to let you know, what's reality lately and no, not the Jon bellion song: Eating : too much carbs, too much bread. I’m sure all the bread I’ve eaten can see me through a whole year without carbs. Source Discovered : some people just refuse to have sense no matter how much you try (probably harsh but true). Rediscovered that most times, upbringing shapes our perspective on life. I’ve been typified as serious. I’m kinda predictable (more than I would like to admit). That I probably have claustrophobic tendencies. Learning : some lot about history...

PRICELESS

Image
Not too long after the start of the new year, I got a hold of “After the fire” by John Lockley. Ordinarily, I would have done a review but I have decided otherwise. This time around, I would be highlighting some of the truths in the book that resonates with reality. A general idea of the storyline would be necessary so, here it is.   As a result of some little mistake that was suspected to be easily overlooked, a rat gets electrocuted and trips of the electricity supply to a refrigerator holding bacteria cultures in a laboratory. That was the beginning of an epidemic in the city of London. The bacteria got out, being extremely contagious, many people got infected. The mutated nature of the disease which was dubbed Legionnaire ’s made an infected person unaware till about 5-30 minutes before the bacteria killed them. Professionals advised Londoners to stay put and have minimal contact with people. An antibiotic was also said to be able to treat it. As expected, people to...

LATEST BLOG EDITS (101ST POST)

Image
Hey people!!! Feeling lost? Trust me, you took the right turn and are in the right place. This is still yours truly on mixedbaggy though it all looks different from what you probably saw the last time you stopped by. Well, well, I made some minor changes to how everything looks just for you (?). What are the latest blog edits.   Honestly, I didn’t change much. The theme, which is responsible for how the blog looks on a whole  is still the same cos I like how easy it is to navigate. If you are one of the earlier readers of this blog, you’d reckon this is my third blog edit (if I’m correct). It had a black and orange themed background before switching to that which most of you are used to seeing here now.   In the course of the month, I stumbled on a very helpful app (I hopefully should get to that some time later. *fingers crossed*) and that inspired me to add a bit of a personal touch to how the blog is presented to y’all. Down to the personal touches, I am a lover...

LEARNING TO TRUST IT'S FOR YOUR (MY) GOOD

Image
Hey people!! Been quite a while but I'm here again with my somewhat random thoughts. I believe you'd enjoy this piece as you take time to read through though it's rather short.   Many a times, things happen and within that moment, you wonder why they take that form. You see them as happening to your demerit but indeed they might be acting in your favor.    Events like these occur daily, in every waking moment of ours. But hardly do we recognize them until the counter occurs and then, you realize it all was for your good at the start. It is said, in all things and under every circumstance, give thanks to God. That is to say, when it looks bad, when the going is great, when things are still, when life moves at a speed beyond what you phantomed... In all these, give thanks.    As i often say and have seen play out more often than not, there's always something to be thankful for in all situations, you just have to clean your lenses and train your eyes to id...

ADULTING: Through my eyes

Image
Forever young,     I want to be forever young. .... Thus goes the line of a certain song, but unfortunately or otherwise, we can't really the young forever. As far as I know, humans, living things generally are susceptible to change and that includes uhm aging (it's only God that's ageless). I remember how people used to make so much fuss when their 18th years came knocking and I wondered what the hell the fuss was about. I just saw that age–18– as any other regular age when I was younger and even now that I'm there, I'm afraid I still feel same. First off, I'm not one that thinks some birthdays are more important than others, I see every year lived as a reason to be thankful. I don't think one has to wait till certain ages before making or recording some notable achievements.    So, I discovered the whole fuss with 18 was basically the "legalness" of the age, one would be free to do certain things that age had long restricted. To me though,...

STARING AT TOMORROW TODAY

Image
Hello world!! (Echoes). I'm back from my unannounced hiatus. I just needed to go off for a while, from exams to projects and life generally. Oh well!! I'm back– for the meantime. Whilst I was away, I didn't forget all about this place and y'all –as usual. I realized however, how impersonal my articles/posts on here have been and for a change, I'm going to attempt giving you a peek into a portion of my life aside my thoughts and musings I post here regularly. Here it goes:    Pardon me if this post ends up being not as personal as you might have thought, I'm not used to that style of writing. This post is essentially me giving you insight to what has kept me away for like two, three months now..... AKA School.    So, late last year, I got in to study what I for a somewhat major part of my life have been yearning to. Hold up, this post was initially meant to give an insight to my experience this past semester in the school of Architecture. Bu...

DEPRESSION: THE LITTLE THINGS

Image
Hey guys, I’ve been keeping a date with the radio on late Sunday mornings of recent. If you are in Lagos and a radio listener like me, you would have an idea what goes on about that time. It’s series of gospel shows on most stations, interrupted by adverts and music breaks. Well, most times, I shuttle between frequencies 99.3fm and 96.9fm. I like the messages aired on 99.3fm. This post isn’t really about my Sunday morning schedule, around 12 though, the countdown (Rick Dees, weekly top 40) goes up. So, there’s this song that has been on the chart for quite a while (heard it made Platinum), 1-800 by Logic (it features Alessia Cara and Khalid) . This song set off a series of thoughts in my head and I’d be sharing them with y’all as always. Source    Some people may find this song weird or  cringeworthy and for some, it ultimately gives them the creeps. For me, however, I like the song and will listen anytime, any day. I like the song cos there’s a message...

WASH DAY PLAYLIST

I am a natural haired girl circumstantially and as most already know, being natural feels like a whole lot of work on its own. From the washing process to detangling and then protective hairstyles and updos, the whole show can get pretty stressful. For me though, wash day can be really tedious—because I can be lazy at times—and one of the few ways I go through successfully is MUSIC . Yes, music helps me on wash day so I don’t even realize how long I’ve spent in the bathroom because I’m trying to wash in sections and ensure my scalp is almost squeaky clean.  I have songs that I put on play whenever it’s wash day. Below are a couple of my songs on my WASH DAY PLAYLIST —not like I actually have a playlist named so.  •    Barcelona by Ed Sheeran : upbeat and leaves me singing along and smiling. Plus it has a verse in Spanish which seems cool to me.  •    Despacito by Daddy Yankee, Luis Fonsi and Justin Bieber : I may have not an inkling to the ...

Travel tips

Image
So I remember saying in one of my previous posts that this blog would be taking on new forms now. Well, as a follow up to that I made this post.     Travelling can be fun, interesting and eye opening but it also can be pretty stressful when it comes to getting ready. A crucial part of travelling is organizing the things needed for the trip. This part is a variable as it depends on the cause of travel—that is; a vacation, an event or business purposes. I have travelled interstate quite a number of times and I’d be sharing a major tip that gets the pressure of preparing for a trip off of me.  *drum roll* CREATING A TRAVEL CHECKLIST    Once I’m aware that I’d need to travel and the occasion, I begin to make a list of things I’d essentially need for the trip so as not to forget anything in the rush of getting ready. Often times, minute and equally important things like a toothbrush or a change of clothes can be forgotten hence the need...
