MAINTAINING YOUR SANITY pt 2

Hey you!! Been what now, 3 weeks since the last post? Today's post is essentially a follow up to the last but one post (find it here). The imposed 'lockdown' is still gradually being eased and yes, I'm still talking about maintaining sanity during these times (and any time, really). This is me hoping this post meets you well.

Take up a new hobby: Back in the days before the internet became a thing, hobbies (and game consoles) were useful for spending time. There certainly are days when you want to stay off most part for the internet but you are at a loss for what to do while your devices are hiding. Oh well, a hobby would be a good go-to. Crosswords, origami, paper crafts, mindful colouring, model making, I could go on and on. Trust me, there is a myriad of hobbies available for you to ease off the tension.

Watch that new TV show your friends have always been screaming at you to watch: seeing that many tend to be under some form of stress during this times, this is a good means of letting off steam. Who knows. . . their recommendation might be your new fave series.

Don't beat yourself up for not being productive: there is a thin line between this and just being lazy. Regardless how pumped we get to embark on mini projects or go about our goals, there are days when we just cannot get up and go. The hours fly and you can't help but wonder how you spent them or how the day is all done already. It happens to the best of us and I guess I can say it is normal (especially when stuck in a routine). So yes, don't beat yourself up, just take it in stride, using the days to pull yourself together for more productive days. Or if you are like me, take it as your body telling you to take a breather.

Take a hiatus from social media if possible: the world has always been crazy but the craziness is gaining more coverage nowadays. When it feels like it is all too much, just walk away, for the sake of your own sanity. Nothing much would be different if you are getting the gist first hand or otherwise. If you can't step back then, filter your feeds.

Learn a new skill: learn a language, learn carpentry or a form of writing. I'm certain that you have something that piques your interest in the pool of skills available (it is humanly impossible to be that boring). Who knows, this skill might make you smile to the bank in the nearest future.

Be kind,
Everyone is at war.

'Mina.
