REVIEW-ISH: PURPLE HIBISCUS, CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE

Howdy social distancers!! Please tell me you are at home 👀. While my last couple of posts have been centred around the COVID-19 situation, today’s post is a deviation from that. Many of us have been thrust into the rather unusual routine of daily living, and at times find it a bit hard to stay within the zone of sanity. For me though, isolation is not much of a big deal save for the fact that we can’t quite tell how long it would last. One of the things that helps me maintain my sanity in these times is getting lost in the fictional world of stories. Considering that I am making a conscious effort to read Literature this time around, I just got out of the world of Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Adichie. Photo Over time, I have come to appreciate Chimamanda Adichie’s story telling skills, that, and my memory seeming to tell me that I have encountered an excerpt from this book that I don’t quite remember led me to the embrace of Purple Hibiscus. AND THE LOCKDOWN CONTINUES

Image
It's no news that the lockdown has been extended and even if the lockdown isn't charting it's full course in certain cities and places, movement and activities that we've grown used to are restricted. While the isolation may not be much of a big deal for some, I'm sure it has some bored to the wits and maybe at the brink of insanity (who knows?) While the lockdown persists, I have made another list. (Remember the last one? ) Limit the amount of news you take in: social media sure has its ways of bringing enlightenment and I'm certain you have been at the receiving end of a plethora of BCs here and there. Whilst some of these might be valid, there is always room for false news. Staying in the loop with what is going on shouldn't mean wolfing down every little bit of news that swings your way (especially without making your own findings). REALITY LATELY

Image
It is 2020 and so far, i have been managing to keep this space alive regardless all other things going on outside of this space. Coronavirus is still very much in the news and thankfully, we aren't dead (yet). However, i'd be bringing all going on out there into this space. Doing : my best to make the most of the semester and year. Been engaging myself in a daily writing exercise. Listening : to Passenger, Lauryn, Don Williams and my playlist on shuffle. I was tasked with sifting through a playlist a while back and I discovered that certain songs have underlying meanings if you listen carefully. Source Realizing : life is hella short. You have a bucket list, start ticking things off, eternity can come calling anytime. Source Michael Rosenberg is an incredible songwriter. In the face of bigger issues, the seemingly inconsequential ones fizzle out (what matters now is staying alive). Peace is beautiful and staying indoors quite literally doesn’t kill

Of Beauty and Coincidences

Sunday, 8th of March international women's day. I attend a pretty early service that leaves me returing when the sun is just about out. I find myself wandering through my gallery only to see this picture that I do not remember taking with any intent in my camera roll.   (As discovered, unedited)   Just clouds, you might say. When I was younger, I had this fascination with cloud forms which has now evolved into one with starry night skies (but that is a tale for another day). This may not be the most impressive cloud form I have laid eyes upon but, I find it settling to look at especially considering the "mysterious appearance" in my gallery. Now to the random thought, someone once said to me that the best things at times happen without a thought to it and here, I have a parallel. I know the constant reminder for this year is being INTENTIONAL but even when doing things with intent there's always that one thing that you are not consciously doing that goes
