REALITY LATELY: WHAT IS NEW?

It has been well over a month since y’all saw me here. Trust me, I never forgot this space but, I found the need to take a step back.

Over the past couple months, I have been caught in the to-be or not-to-be loop. Wondering; should I or should I not? Although I have spent a good part of the time away writing the best possible content, I have spent even more time thinking. Thinking, about what you might ask. . . Shutting down this space permanently. Yup, I have chewed on that thought for the time I was away these past months.

Why?

Late in the month of June, I began uploading content on Medium, based on recommendation. In case you don’t know, medium is essentially a community for writers—and readers of course.

For the longest time, I have kept an eye out for possible ways to widen my reach. Getting my content before a larger (and more diverse) audience. Medium certainly fits the bill and it subtly eliminates the need to focus on a niche (not like I have ever done well with niches anyway). So, I made the move, temporary at first to medium, just to test the waters and see the prospects of the platform.

5 months later and I can say the move has been worthwhile—for most part.

Having to write on here and still drop steady content on medium was my dilemma after the first few weeks on medium. Deciding what goes where or having to settle for repeated content didn’t come easy to me. Rewriting the articles on the other hand is an idea I’m very much open to but then, it stands the chance to limit my creativity. It is pretty much rinse and repeat.

There I was, stuck in the to-be or not-to-be loop. One moment, I think of moving to medium permanently and in the next breath, I’m contemplating making an appearance here because of all the history and growth this space holds from earlier years. In one moment I decide to let go and at the last-minute, I find myself holding on to the last bits.

To be honest, it has been a conflict of interests in these past months, but here I am today, so maybe I have finally settled upon on a decision.

Moving forward

After so much thought and conversations, I have arrived at a conclusion—temporarily? I am not shutting down the blog. C’mon, y’all are my first readers and it would be mean of me to run off just like that.

However, a good number of my works would be found on medium. I would definitely be making more appearances there than I would here. But, this doesn’t change much with my appearance on here.

The lunacy of Lagos series has to continue—I mean, because Lagos is still very much mad—and this is home to the series. Expect book reviews as before and one or two random thoughts from time to time.

If you are curious about my content on medium, follow this link, I promise you won’t be disappointed. And on a final note, you should subscribe to the blog now so you get the latest updates delivered in all its goodness to your inbox.

Thanks for hanging in there,

‘Mina

Meanwhile: connect with me on twitter and medium.
