GRATITUDE NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE

I find it worth mentioning that this is the tail end of the year. I’m certain we all have had some events worth remembering in the previous months. The days between christmas and new year’s celebrations are sure weird days, while some are on road trips, concert and party hopping, some unconsciously use these days for all manner of evaluation—from business to daily living.

That being said, the highlight of today’s post is to jog both our memories regarding the highlights of the year for us as individuals. Often time, we find it easier to recognize the hundred-and-one things that didn’t go our ways in the course of the year. In the same light, we find it rather convenient to forget times when things went awfully right in ways we couldn’t have possibly fathomed. Usually, focusing on all that has gone wrong or that which is still yet to be deprives one of the joy from the seemingly little victories and blessings. It leaves us without much gratitude.
Now, cast your mind to earlier in the year, think about the days when you sat unsure of what the year held in store for you. Ponder upon those whose paths you’ve been priveleged to cross. Consider how much growth you’ve experienced as the months passed.
Think upon the happy moments after stormy days. Think of the storms and fires that you’ve been emerged from as a stronger, wiser person. Anything to be grateful for yet? I know for certain the year may not have been a bed of roses or tulip field but, there have been days when you just can’t comprehend how you made it through.

I know the year has been more down than up for some but still, here you are breathing the air of the season in. Here you are, reading this blog post from wherever you may be. Think about the projects you started and saw to completion. Think about the goals you set and met, the little success in the seemingly basic. I know some might be thinking along the lines of “easier said” but regardless how tough things may be, something is definitely working out in that same life of yours. You may not be financially buoyant now but you’ve hardly fallen ill this year, you did not fail in other things you embarked on. You’ve had hearty laughs at varying points in the year. You’ve had shoulders to lean on on dark days and you ultimately cannot tell how many disasters you’ve escaped.
In all, whilst you are jolly today, whilst you prepare for tomorrow’s celebration, while you go about your basic activities, listening to your favourite songs, remember to remember the good times and days and all that there is to be thankful for as 2k19 winds to a close.

To happy days and defining moments,
‘Mina.

How was 2k19 for you? Did you live up to your resolutions? How grateful are you for the year gone by? I would love to know these and more in the comments.
