Realizations

It’s the 12th month of the year already and over the months, some realizations have hit me and pretty hard I must say. This post is just to get my somewhat jumbled thoughts and realizations out of my mind palace hoping it would make an iota of sense. Here goes nothing:

Every day seen is a privilege: At times, we as humans are so used to the idea of sleeping and waking on a daily basis that we fail to realize it’s a privilege—a great one at the least. I’ve realized that every new day I see is yet another reason to thank God even though things I plan to achieve may not go as planned. I’ve realized and accept that I see each day not because I’m too good or better than the person that didn’t but just because of God’s grace and mercies.

Pain/hurt can be good at times: Barely thinking of this sounds screwed up but it feels true. Some of the best things that happen to us result from pain. Same as some great ideas and best deeds are birthed from hurt. It sounds weird, I know, but pain/hurt can be a good motivation at times.

Delay is never denial: Sounds really trite but it rings true. Some delays are actually beneficial in the larger scheme of things because when the delay is over, it would be at no better time. You too would agree that the answer or response came at the nick of time. Other times delay serves a greater purpose in the big picture. Delays may teach some important lessons or make you cherish whatever you might have been waiting for when it finally comes. Some delays help to become a better person and some would impact others just as much as it does impact you.

Everyone has his/her own path: Two or more roads could lead to the same destination. Truth be said, we were created for different purposes—and at times those purposes are intertwined. The purpose I serve would likely not be the same as that of the kid next-door. Hence, there’s no need comparing or contrasting two people or yourself with someone else cos you may not be headed for the same destination for all you may know. Every man to his own.

Every situation no matter how bad has something good embedded: I see this play out almost every passing moment. Some times, things happen and we are so mad about it—complaining and all—but if we stop for a moment and study such situations, after a while we would see the good in it. Not having certain resources may make you feel horrible right now but I’m almost certain that some day in hindsight, you’d be glad you didn’t have it then and reckon that it was a good thing you didn’t.

There you have it, my thoughts uncensored. What realizations have you made these past months? I would love to hear from you in the comments section.
