JUST A THOUGHT

Often times, we hear news that we just mark it as one of the news items but could be devastating to the receiving party. Some time in 2017, I made a post about depression and that has been on of the my personal faves since then. As a kind off spin-off, I’d be addressing the occasional baby of depression….SUICIDE.

For the past two years--give or take--there has been a notable surge in suicides and attempted but failed suicides (down here in Nigeria at least). One doesn’t often feel the gravity of such things until it hits near to home, maybe not by the doorstep but a couple minutes walk away. And it’s moments like that you relate to the gravity of it, the brevity and volatility of life, how even the externally happiest can be the most likely to go through this means. It’s moments like that, you remember someone that has fallen off your radar or you have drifted from and sincerely hope to the heavens that all is well with them. It’s times like these you realize and reaffirm that we all have battles of different nature that we are fighting as well as losing.

(ICYMI: DEAR WHOEVER...)

One thing I’d say we bear in mind when relating with others is the fact that we are all emotional beings (some more emotional than the other) and we inevitably are stuck in a world of very sensitive people with all emphasis. We have people who read meanings to the slightest up note in a sentence, people who find it quite easy turning a harmless comment around to mean something entirely off target. Right now, I feel like I’m just rambling but I have the urge to share a word or two to those contemplating bringing their stay on this earth to a rather abrupt stop.
There’s people that really do care for you though it may seem otherwise at times. The same way we have different human languages is the same way people show their affection in a varying number of ways but they still care nonetheless. No matter how hard things get, always have it in mind that things can turn around in the twinkling of an eye. The fact that you happen to be on the floor today doesn’t mean you can’t be somewhere up top tomorrow. I may not completely understand your struggle but I bet you are not the first to go through whatever it may be and hundreds have come out such situations with their heads high. Also, you have to understand that some bad things happen to us for good reasons. The “bad/rough times” of now could be shielding us from a greater evil or getting our being and minds prepped for a greater good in some near future. As weird as this sounds, it is true.
I may not be going through half of what you are in right now but remember, it could always be worse and it would definitely get better.
